Golf: Ireland hosted the Ryder Cup in the 'K Club'   Co Kildare in 2006. This was a great honour for us Irish as we had the opportunity to show the world just how good our golf facilities are on our Emerald Isle.

There are numerous excellent 18 hole golf courses all within 12 miles of Fairymount farm, including Birr - Nenagh - Portumna and Roscrea.

Walking: Nearby are the renowned Slieve Bloom Mountains, the Silvermines and the forest park and nature trails of Portumna. But for a very special quiet day, why not spend it on our own farm walks & trails! We hope that you will take this opportunity to wind down from the stresses of everyday life whether you are a real hiker or just a casual walker, we have a choice of walks to suit your wishes and physical abilities. You can traverse farmland, woodland, areas of botanical, ecological and archaeological interest, as well as see the spectacular views from the hill of Knockshegowna.

Equestrian: For those interested in horses, you will enjoy walking through the paddocks with the brood mares, foals and all the other horses of various ages.
There are excellent riding schools and trekking centres nearby
for anyone who would like to go horse riding.


 

Fishing: Enjoy coarse and game fishing on Lough Derg or try your luck in catching a pike or perch from our own private lake.

Eating Out: You will be spoiled for choice! - From pub-grub to gourmet eating it's all here within a short car journey.
Birr, for instance has several excellent restaurants, a bistro, oriental food, as well as coffee shops and pubs serving lunches and evening meals. Or head towards the lakeside of Lough Derg - an area that is fast developing a reputation for it's variety and excellence - which is speckled with interesting eating places. In fact whatever direction you take from Fairymount Farm you are never too far from good food, good music and good Guinness.
 

 

Locally there are numerous Cinemas - Shopping Centres - Kids Playgrounds - Bowling - Leisure Centres (with pool & gym, sauna & steam rooms etc.) Hair Dressers - Beauty Salons - Spa Lodges and much more Entertainment and Pampering for you to avail of on your holiday.
